Conversaciones entre el Llaverito y Yo

Welcome!!

Why am I doing this? Well, just to write down some things that come to me now and then. It is mainly for my own entertainment, but I also use it for more serious things, like studying and reviewing things I like. I also tell publicly what I should be telling privately. It is written both in English and Spanish but not side by side. Some things sound better in English and some sound better in Spanish.

You are welcome to nose around.

Rules for a Man to Live By

A collection of quotes from others and some personal thoughts.

1.- A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. A man does what he must, in spite of consequences, obstacles and dangers. (John Kennedy)

2.- Never lose your temper. Men are like steel, when they lose their temper, they lose their worth. (Chuck Norris)

3.- After a certain age, you are responsible for your face. Your actions and choices will be reflected there. (Albert Camus)

4.-Big jobs go to men who prove their ability to outgrow small ones. Do not expect growth if you have not been able to prove your worth. An underachiever is going nowhere. (Theodore Roosevelt)

5.- Anyone can be bought, but only the strongest willed men can be impervious to a price. Honor your principles, don't live you off your wife's earnings. George Washington.

6.- “Between men and women there is no friendship possible. There is passion, enmity, worship, love, but no friendship.” If anyone tells you that they just want to be friends and you decide to swallow that story, hook, line and sinker, it'll be you own damn fault. Oscar Wilde

7.- “It is not titles that make men illustrious, but men who make titles illustrious.” You are not defined by the title given in your line of work, but rather, you make the job as good or interesting as you want it to be. Niccolo Machiavelli.

8.- “When men speak ill of thee, live so as nobody may believe them.” Men will always criticize you, and you have to live in such a way as to prove them wrong, so that no one ever believes that criticism. Plato

9.- “There is one kind of robber whom the law does not strike at, and who steals what is most precious to men: time.” There is only one resource that is given to us in equal amounts, and that is time. You can spend it as you want, but you will only be given the same amount as the rest of the world in any given day. Napoleon Bonapart.

10.- “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do". You are succesful only if you did what you wanted to do between sunrise and sunset. Bob Dylan

You are the example and light house in your family. If you stray from these principles, everyone else will also stray and all failure will fall squarely on your shoulders. You set an example for your wife and you share the work. You set an example for your children, but you are not their playmate, you are Dad. Be a father, not another one of the kids.
